The Renegade Writer, Episode One

No one wants to read a good book, it has to be sensational. To get from good to sensational the research has to be done first hand. Google schmoogle. When I write I want the experts to say, how the hell did he know that. So when I have a central character who has to steal a mummy from Sicilian catacombs, I have to go to those catacombs and try to steal one. This is where episode 1 of the Renegade Writer begins.

The Renegade

Fiction has to be believable, ironically, non-fiction has to be unbelievable. My job is to make the fiction your reality.

My Books

If my character jumps out of a plane, I have to jump out of a plane. The experience always brings the unknown that needs to be conveyed so that the reader lives the experience with character. You have to be the character.

W.G. Griffiths Auther

About W.G. Griffiths

W. G. Griffiths lives on Long Island, New York, and is the multi award winning author of both fiction and non-fiction books including: Malchus, Driven, Takedown, Stingers, and Talons. Griffiths believes the reader should live the story so research from the internet alone just won’t do. First hand experience is essential for proper description.

If his character has to sky dive then so does the writer. If his character has to travel through the neighborhood sewers then so does the writer. Research has brought him to the deserts of the Middle East, the bush of Africa, the tundra of the Arctic and even the U. S. military confines of germ warfare at USAMRIID in Fort Detrick. Griffiths has also appeared on television many times including The Oprah Winfrey Show and speaks on writing stories at both grade schools and universities.

quote start As a first time novelist this book is an absolute asset. The tips, pointers and guidance W.G.Griffiths has put into it's pages is an inspirational life line that motivates, captivates and drives me to continue on my quest. The format is easy to read, clear to understand and W.G.G. shares his own adventures on his creative path.. The research journeys are entertaining and clear cut explanations of how to gain the knowledge required to write a story not just well, but great. In reading this book I learned far more than I did in two years of writing school and is in a dimension well beyond any standard course offered I have come across or attended. It is also a book once opened you will find hard to put down. W.G.G. packs in the knowledge and excitement to show any writer or would be writer exactly what a sensational read should be like. If you have an inclination to write a story or have written many stories this book is the one that is your road map to success! quote end

Amy's Bookshelf Reviews

quote start Griffiths shares first hand experience and his knowledge of writing, and of course, his novels show that his experience is worth a lot. It's a great journey of him sharing his experiences, and how he has mastered the fine art of being a storyteller. It's a gift that all of us writers strive to do. I like how he breaks down the components of writing and shares information that can lend to someone who alreayd has a gift. Let's face it, anyone can write, but to be a writer and storyteller, there needs to be gift and natural talent, or it's just words. I received this book free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. ~Amy's Bookshelf Reviews quote end

quote start "Talons" was just GREAT! I also enjoyed "Methuselah's Pillar." Both are 5-star novels and have got me interested in exploring some of Mr. Griffiths other books in the near future. His main characters always feel "approachable", the settings varied and vivid, yet the story-lines are unique. I highly recommend "TALONS" Dr. Stanley E. quote start This is a slightly romantic tale based around the part fictional part factual life of the High Priest's slave - Malachus - at the time of Jesus's crucifixtion. It has really helped me understand more of the background and significance of many of the events around this time that too often we just read knowing that Easter Sunday is coming. quote end

quote start Sometimes sequels can disappoint...but that is not the case with TIME TROVE. What a follow up to Methuselahs Pillar. Amazing story with ton of surprises. Can’t wait for the next one.... quote end

Jenabe

quote start This is one of the best books I have read on forgiveness. The stories of both the forgiven and the forgiver are something that will long remain in your heart as a model of what forgiveness needs to look like. If you need to be forgiven, or need to forgive and find Grace - this is a must read. quote end

quote start After the cliffhanger in the first book, I was expecting to have to buckle my seatbelt for another wild ride, and I wasn't disappointed. Krogan continues to give me nightmares and the terrorist, truly scary, may have actually hit a little too close to home. Hopefully the book won't give the wrong person more information than they should have. The story flowed well and Griffiths is a master at setting the mood. The angels in the arena was a nice touch. I felt myself reaching out for Gavin and want to know what happens to him from here. Where will Krogan wind up next? quote end

quote start I absolutely loved this book. It is a real page turner, from the beginning to the end. An Indiana Jones type epic, with a modern day terrorist, references to ancient Egyptians, biblical legends and non-stop suspense. I highly recommend Methuselah's Pillar by W. G. Griffiths. quote end

DC

quote start The story line is wonderful and a great read; HOWEVER, it seems totally unnecessary for Mr. Griffiths to use the Lord's name so much. I realize that it is done everywhere, but a great writer does not have to use this language, and he is a great writer. I rate the book a 5 for story but zero for unnecessary use of the Lord's name as cursing. quote end

quote start This book takes a deeper look into the life of Malchus before his encounter with Christ. It gives you a look at his daily life as a chief servant for the High Priest along with his personal life and what might have been going on in his mind as he dealt with the issues of Christ's arrest. It was a good read but a bit longer than other versions of the story I had read in preparing for a message on Malchus. Overall I gave it a 4 and recommend anyone who wants to get a feel for the moments surrounding the arrest of Christ should read. quote end

quote start I LOVED this book. It was so unique in the way that the killer(who is a master falconer) decides to train his golden eagles to kill people instead of using a gun or any other means. I wouldn't mind it AT ALL if Mr. Griffiths or any other author writes a dozen or so books in which the killer uses an eagle as the murder weapon. This book gets an A+++ from me!! quote end
